Every resort within 3 hours of GVA — with drive times, honest blue run guides, and everything you need to plan the trip. Fly in, ski the next morning.
ResortRides.com and Ben's Bus both offer door-to-door transfers at fixed prices — book in advance especially in February half term. For the French Alps, the A40 is fast and well-gritted in winter; the road to Chamonix is the tunnel under Mont Blanc, not over it. For Swiss resorts: Verbier requires the A9 to Martigny then D-roads up the mountain — allow 30 extra minutes in snow. Saas-Fee and Andermatt are on well-maintained Swiss motorways until the final approach.
First time skiing / nervous beginners: Saint-Gervais (1h, gentle blues, traditional village, best value) or Megève (1h15, beautiful village, wide easy runs).
Intermediates wanting the Alps experience: Chamonix Les Houches (1h15, dramatic setting, tree skiing) or Avoriaz (1h30, car-free, huge Portes du Soleil network).
Families wanting ease + mileage: Les Menuires (2h30, 47% blue, heart of 3 Vallées, Famille Plus certified) or Méribel (2h30, centre of 3 Vallées, wide cruising blues).
Swiss Alps experience: Verbier (2h, dramatic mountains, good intermediate blues at La Chaux and Lac des Vaux) or Laax-Flims (2h, quieter, glacier blues).
High altitude / best snow: Val Thorens (2h45, 2,300m base, guaranteed snow November–May) or Saas-Fee (2h30, glacier skiing, open year-round).
